Description
History Of The Seagull 1963
The story of the Seagull 1963 watch begins in Switzerland. To fund the development of a new watch movement, the Venus Watch Company offered their current movement (the Venus 175) up for sale. They initially approached the Russian military but it was the Chinese air force who were interested.
They purchased all the tooling required to produce the movement from Venus and quickly got to work. Named “Project 304” a number of test batches were produced before the watch was approved by both the Ministry for Light Industry and the People’s Liberation Army Air Force. Within 6 months, 1400 watches had been produced and issued to pilots.
